Sitting Shiva with The Greenville Sisters

  • One City Plaza Greenville, SC USA (map)

The Sisters of Perpetual indulgence are known for spreading Joy and Expiating Stigmatic Guilt but it doesn’t end there.

Humans experience sadness, anger, loss...the list goes on and on. All these emotions can be experienced by themselves or a mix. These feels can be most prevalent during times of loss or continued grief.

On August 11th, 9:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M., the Greenville Sisters want to ensure you know you aren’t alone in your grief. Novice Sister Imma Eloise Listening will be Sitting Shiva for our communities' collective loss.

'Sitting Shiva' is a term used to describe the practice of Jewish mourners participating in the traditional rituals of observing a shiva. During the period of shiva, mourners sometimes sit on low stools or boxes. This is where the phrase “sitting shiva” comes from, and it is a practice that symbolizes the mourner being “brought low” following the loss of a loved one. For seven days, the family members of the deceased gather in one location – typically their own home or the home of the deceased – and mourns the loss in a variety of ways.

Imma is taking that tradition and using it as a tool to help people grieve and seek healing from loss. Whether you're grieving the loss of a loved one, a pet, a childhood stolen from you; grieving actions we feel true guilt for, or tragic world events Imma will be there to listen to your pain and grieve on your behalf.

You are not alone in joy and especially not alone in pain.

The Greenville Sisters are here.

The event will be held at One City Plaza in Greenville South Carolina. Novice Sister Imma will begin Shiva at 9:00am and remain until 4:00pm.
All community members are invited to come and share any pain or suffering with Novice Sister Imma so she can grieve with them.
