Join us at Ethos Combatives for a special LGBTQ self defense class.

The class is free of charge, with a suggested donation of $10. A portion of all donations will benefit PFLAG Spartanburg. Pre-registration is required. Age range is 12 and up. Classes will take place the second Saturday of each month for as long as there is sufficient attendance. Wadette Cantrell is the primary coach and she may be accompanied by a second instructor as attendance requires.

Coach Wadette Cantrell will cover basic safety procedures as well as self defense based on Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Gracie Jiu Jitsu was brought to the United States by the Gracie Family. Carlson and Helio Gracie developed this martial art on the basis that a smaller, weaker person can effectively defend themselves against a larger and stronger opponent. This self defense empowerment program will provide you with proven techniques of self defense; we will cover standing defenses as well as defenses from the ground.
